As an incoming freshman, I got accepted to UCD, UCI, UCSB and UCLA, however I got no financial aid this year because FAFSA was literally screwing over immigrant families with no socials and I never got to complete it due to a lack of a parent signature (they eventually took off the feature of needing a social to sign forms, but even then, the From the perspective of California high school applicants, it's roughly UCB/UCLA &gt; UCSD/UCI &gt;= UCSB &gt;UCD &gt;UCSC &gt;UCR &gt;UCM.  This matters more for grad school, not undergrad.  i like both colleges and the area around them.  Santa Barbara is good for people who want a great college experience which you will have there if you go.  Here&rsquo;s some info in case you need it.  Pros: Location near LA which might help for recruiting, internships, and jobs Uci has towers that are much better than the newest sb dorms, which are comparable to the uci classics.  Mar 24, 2023 · Here is a 4 year study plan for CS at UCI.  Starting from UCI ppl are complaining left and right about getting reject or WL.  I got rejected from pretty much everywhere: UCI, UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCD besides UCR and waitlisted at UCSD.  ^^ Salary data.  I'll list my thoughts on the pros and cons of each school down below.  Other majors are good too because both schools have good academics overall.  What does this mean? Classes that are overlapped by Electrical Engineers and CS students are usually the same class (at UCSB), whereas in UCI the CS school has their own CS/programming classes meant FOR CS students and programming classes meant FOR EEs.  UCSB has &ldquo;neuroscience&rdquo; tucked into the Psych and Brain Science Department, whereas UCI has a dedicated Neurobiology Department. Where UCI beats UCSB is food, especially Asian food, but even Mexican is kind of limited compared to farther south in SoCal.  In terms of prestige, UCSD is the best and then UCI and UCSB are about even.  Halloooo I got accepted into UCSB but waitlisted got UCI.  (Job prospects are good there too) but UCI is close enough to everything for you to get interviews, network, and land a intership/job.  UCSB has a smaller College of Engineering, but it punches above its weight/size.  taking these into consideration could help you determine what&rsquo;s better for you in the long run.  Smaller size, this means that you can get more individual attention if you want to go towards academia but it also means that you will have less events / people to bounce cs projects / resources / internships etc off of. I've heard that UCSD is extremely competitive with computer engineering and computer science. So if you go there with hopes of transferring into that major, you have a possibility of being rejected whereas in UCI and UCSB you already have been admitted to those majors.  I'm a transfer student recently accepted to UC Santa Barbara's Pre Poli-Sci program! I have not committed yet as I am still deciding between UCSB and UCI (accepted as a criminology major).  4. Davis has the highest ROI (close to UCLA and UCSD), followed by UCSB, and UCI comes last (Close to Merced, yes, you read this right, Merced students tend to do very well after graduation). It really comes down to fit, as both UCSB and UCI have great CS programs that lead to great summer internship opportunities etc.  If you can branch out &amp; compromise a little on food, pick UCSB, but go in knowing it&rsquo;s a smaller town with limited options.
